Financial Aid & Scholarships
Financial Aid Information
Charles & Sue’s School of Hair Design has an extensive financial aid assistance program to help qualified students meet the educational costs of attending school. Our financial aid representative will help you with the complex structure of FAFSA through one-on-one help. Federal educational funds are available to qualified students through Pell Grants and Direct Student Loans. You will be given an opportunity to meet with our Financial Aid Department to discuss your needs and see what might be available to you. The various financial aid options are listed below and can be discussed further in-depth when you reserve an appointment to meet with our admissions representative.
Federal Pell Grant
A need-based grant provided by the federal government to low-income undergraduate students. Unlike loans, Pell Grants do not need to be repaid, making them a valuable source of financial aid for eligible students.
Direct Subsidized Loan
A federal student loan for undergraduate students with financial need. The U.S. Department of Education pays the interest on the loan while the student is in school at least half-time, during the grace period (the first six months after leaving school), and during deferment periods.
Direct Unsubsidized Loan
A federal student loan available to both undergraduate and graduate students, regardless of financial need. Unlike subsidized loans, interest accrues on unsubsidized loans while the student is in school and during grace periods or deferment.
Direct Parent Plus Loan
A federal loan available to parents of dependent undergraduate students and to graduate or professional students. These loans are credit-based, and parents can borrow up to the full cost of attendance minus any other financial aid received. Interest accrues from the time the loan is disbursed.
529 College Savings Plans
Tax-advantaged savings plans designed to encourage saving for future education costs. 529 plans are sponsored by states, state agencies, or educational institutions and offer tax benefits when used for qualified education expenses, such as tuition, fees, and room and board.
You may apply for financial aid on the web at www.fafsa.ed.gov The school code is 012930. For direct loan information, visit www.studentloans.gov. You will be given an opportunity to meet with our Financial Aid Representative to discuss your needs and see what might be available to you after you submit your FAFSA®. You will be receiving a certificate in less than 2 years. For the required tax information, we recommend using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool (DRT), if possible.
